Old Beliefs

By admin • February 17th, 2010

Most of you at one time or another has wondered about the mysteries of living on this earth.  Why things work the way they do, or the way they do not.  Wondering why your emotions run rampant and yet at other times there is a deadening of the self that makes it even difficult to feel any emotion at all.

Your mind is multifaceted, concentrating on one or a few things at a time, yet pulling in thousands of bits of information at any given time.  All of those bits of information, good and not so good impact you in either positive or negative ways.  It is all dependant upon how well you are able to understand and work with your emotional guidance system.

The conscious mind is the part that is aware as you move through your daily routines.  The subconscious mind is the part that holds every particle of information that comes into your knowledge base.  The iceberg below gives a wonderful representation of how different the conscious vs subconscious mind is.

Tip of the Iceberg

The part above the water symbolizes the conscious mind because it is seen and you are aware of it.  However, the greater part, all that lies beneath the water, is symbology of the subconscious because you are not aware that it is there.  Rest assured though, it is and the part you are not aware of, the subconscious mind, is the part that is running your life. This is where your old beliefs reside.

So, let’s go back to the emotions and tie this all in.  The premise is that when you feel a certain emotion, then the majority of the time it is not the circumstance that is happening in the present moment that is triggering that certain emotion.  You are being triggered by your subconscious knowledge base that is full of the old belief systems, which you have formed through the years based upon what you have experienced.

The way you can check this out is the 10 minute rule.  Say you are angry about a certain situation, if your anger lasts more than 10 minutes and does not feel resolved in that amount of time, then it is something down in your subconscious that is holding you in the pattern of anger.  Some old belief that does not want to let go.

Think about it this way.  If you are happy about something, doesn’t it just feel natural and phases into another emotion or non emotion with ease within a few minutes?  When you are happy, your mind is clear and feels good.  Yet when you are angry for any length of time, your mind is not clear.  In fact it is usually talking to itself incessantly about what should have been said or done or it is busy pointing the finger and running through the scenario that happened over and over again, trying in its limited way to make it so that it, the subconscious mind, can be in control and feel safe.

Homework:

How can you clear some of the old beliefs and move into a more positive flow in your life?

1.  Take out a little note pad and write down every negative thought coming from your mind and words coming out of your mouth for one day.  These are negative thoughts you may have toward yourself, others or situations that are happening to you.  Don’t forget that these sometimes come out in the form of simple little complaints too.  Write them down.

2.  Once you get a good look at how many negatives are coming up for you in a single day you can take a deep breath, all the way down into your abdomen.  Just breath and know that you are only doing what you know how to do up until this moment in time.

3.  Then pick one area where you know you will have success and make the decision to change your language.  Maybe it is the language you use towards someone else close to you or perhaps you start right in on the language you say to yourself.  Be aware of what negative thoughts are there and then think before speaking, only let something positive flow out of your mouth in that particular area.

Don’t worry; this exercise is not about beating yourself up.  It is to become aware of what is coming from your subconscious that is negative and does not serve you any longer. In the awareness comes the change and changing one little thing will ripple its effect out through your life in ways you would have never imagined.

Please don’t feel like you have to do this all by yourself.  Go to http://www.healingthewoundedsoul.com/home.html and make an appointment to work with me personally.  I will take you through your Soul Map Reading, laser in on which old beliefs are not serving you anymore and give you the tools to create that which you truly desire.

In Light and Love,

Rhonda
